Review: (seed) Healthy Hand Cream

20 Oct

I’ve always had what I call, “Old Lady Hands,” which means I’m constantly trying new hand creams. I’ve tried so many I can’t even remember all of them. I know I haven’t found one that I really like, and that really does what it says it does. When I saw the opportunity to review a product sample of (seed) Healthy Hand Cream, of course I jumped on it!

Overall Comments:

The first thing I noticed when I got this product was the packaging. I really like it. The colors. The way it feels in my hands. It fits in my purse. Good design. I opted for the “invigorating citrus blend” rather than the “fragrance free” because I like good smells so I was interested to see what it smelled like. It. Smells. Wonderful. It’s not too over-bearing and is strong enough to actually smell. The lotion feels rich and blends in nicely. It’s silky without that greasy, sticky feeling after you put it on. The moisturizing action lasts for a while and my hands do seem softer after a full week of using it twice a day.

Does it do what it says it does?

I was using Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Hand Cream before I got (seed) Healthy Hand Cream. Honestly, I was pretty happy with the Neutrogena product as my old stand-by, until I put this new product on my hands. YES, it actually does “moisturize your hands and keeps them healthy looking, naturally.” It’s made with grape seed oil and Jojoba seed oil and is Paraben-free, dimethicone-free, with no artificial colors or fragrances.

Is the price for what you get fair?

Well, sort of. Right now you can get (seed) Healthy Hand Cream at select Whole Foods Markets or on the SEED Store (via Alice.com). Since they are doing heavy promoting of the product, it’s available for $5.49 for 3.5 fl oz. Actual retail price is somewhere between  $6.99-$7.99. My old stand by, Neutrogena, is available on drugstore.com for $4.49 for 2 oz. At the discount price (seed) Healthy Hand Cream is cheaper per ounce than Neutrogena but, at the retail price it’s more expensive.

Random Chick Rating

GOOD! I think this is a very good product and it actually does what it claims it does. Though it is more expensive, I would buy it again. I’m thinking about trying the body lotion because I’ve been looking for a new one. I would recommend this hand cream to any one who has “Old Lady Hands” and wants a cream that feels decadent and does the job.

Review: Stella & Dot Riviera Coin Necklace

12 Oct

I’m wearing the Stella & Dot Riviera Coin Necklace at a fundraiser for my daughter’s school. I had way too much wine that night…but, that’s another story. My BFF was looking for a part-time job so she could work earning extra money into her crazy life with her husband and two sons. She stumbled upon an opportunity with Stella & Dot.

Stella & Dot is a direct seller of jewelry through its network of commission-earning stylists. These individuals sign up with the company to host trunk sales of the merchandise in their local communities. Now, I don’t advocate most direct selling models because it seems that only those at the top make the most money. But my BFF was pretty gung-ho about this one so of course, I supported her!

Overall Comments:

When I first saw this necklace, I knew I had to have it. I loved how it looked bohemian and modern all at the same time. I’m not a huge jewelry fiend either. I just thought it was gorgeous so I bought it. When it arrived in the pretty-little box with aqua-colored designs and a note that said, “Of course you deserve it.” I felt like a little girl on Christmas morning. I love how it sparkles and makes jingling sounds when I wear it.

Does it do what it says it does?

As an absolute indulgence, yes. That’s basically what this necklace was for me. I rarely buy bling-y stuff for myself and just knowing that I have it puts a smile on my face.

Is the price for what you get fair?

The necklace is $79.00. Compared to other high-end jewelry, it’s a steal. And since you can wear it with both casual and dressy outfits, it’s even more of a bargain.

Random Chick Rating

ROCKS! If you haven’t treated yourself to something in a while and you like jewelry, this is definitely the necklace for you.

BTW, my BFF is doing very well with her business and she is having fun at the same time with all her bling!

Review: Planet Mom Tshirts

25 Sep
Yup, that’s me with my Planet Mom Tshirt that reads, “Botox Free.” If you click on the photo you can see that I’m telling the truth. I don’t care if botox makes me look like Jennifer Anniston, I will NEVER inject botulism into my face. That is just beyond crazy.

Anywhoo…back to my review!

Overall Comments

I found these shirts by watching Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D List. She had this very shirt on and I said to myself: I. Want. One. I simply Googled “Botox Free Tshirt” and there it was! I looked around the site and found other hilarious shirts I had to have. Like, “Whine. No. Wine. Yes.” and “Be nice to me. I might talk about you on my blog.” I always get comments whenever I wear these shirts and the best thing is, they go with everything! Jeans, shorts, shirts…and my favorite SWEATS! I have even bought a shirt for my BFF and she loves it.

Does it do what it says it does?

The tagline on the site says, Where apparel with a sexy fit and irreverent wit is our domain.” I would say that YES, these shirts do what they set out to do, they are awesome! The shirts are designed to fit a woman’s body so they don’t bag or droop. My advice is to order a little large if you don’t want it too tight. The material is high-quality, 100% cotton so the more you wash them the softer they get.

Is the price for what you get fair?

They are a little more expensive than your everyday $10 tshirt. Short-sleeve tshirts go for $28 and long-sleeve tshirts go for $32, but it’s totally worth it.

ROCKS! To all the moms out there…invest in a good tshirt that also has an attitude. You’ll be glad you did!
